Our WEEE disposal services adhere to three ‘Rs' namely Recover, Refurbish and Recycle. All WEEE collected and brought to our facility goes through a process which is in line with the duty of care regulations. All equipment is logged on to our database with serial numbers. Thereafter data bearing equipment is separated and put into a monitored secure area pending testing and data wiping (detailed procedure available on request). Non- data bearing WEEE is then put through the testing procedures to refurbish and reuse as much as possible.
Recover
Recovery and removal of end-of-life WEEE from client site is the first step in its disposal . Clients are offered two major routes to do this; i) On demand disposal and ii) Contract disposal. The former relates to one off collections and the latter refers to long term contracts. Whichever route our clients wish to take, they can rest assured that they will be getting the best possible service.
Refurbish
Wherever possible, we try to reuse the WEEE coming through our gates (currently achieving in excess of 75%). This reduces waste going to landfill and also is the most cost and energy efficient method to recover WEEE. The recovered and refurbished WEEE is then reclassified as EEE and ready to be resold in the second user market.
Many large companies may wish that their redundant WEEE (especially computers and IT equipment) is put to a second use which benefits society and the community. This approach can demonstrate a company's social responsibility and can generate public relations benefits especially to demonstrate Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). BRES can help do this with donations going to a charity of your choice. We would prepare the equipment by de-assetising, data wiping and cleaning it to make sure that the equipment is safe and ready for reuse. There would be a charge to cover freight and refurbishment costs in this case. Please contact us to discuss this.
Recycle
In cases where the equipment either cannot be refurbished for reuse or the client wishes it to be recycled, the equipment is broken down to its components and materials recovered for smelting and recycling. The WEEE directive enforces the recycling of electrical waste and ensures compliance is achieved against EEE producer targets set by the government
