Detailed documentation in the form of working documents regarding process flow are available upon request. Briefly, the equipment is processed as follows;
- All equipment received at BRES is weighed and logged in upon receipt at our warehouse. Individual bar codes are assigned to each item received.
- All equipment is visually inspected and if there is a likelihood that it will work, it is refurbished. We have facillities for PAT testing and qualified staff to do this.
- All non-working equipment is stripped for parts or recycling.
- All data storage devices (e.g. hard drives, CDs, floppy drives, data tapes etc.) are either data wiped using industry standard software that meets the U.S. DoD 5220.22-M standard or shredded as per the clients' requirements.
- Quarterly reports are provided to our clients and the Environment agency as part of our compliance and licence requirements.
CRT Recycling BR Environmental Services Ltd. have invested in an MRT CRT Separator with diamond cutting technology, which can treat up to 45 CRT monitors per hour. The processing in the machine follows the dismantling of CRT monitors to basic components leaving a vacuum-sealed glass screen and tube, which contains the cathode ray gun.
After releasing the vacuum and removing the steel band and ray gun, the tube is fed into the machine where the leaded funnel glass is cut from the clear panel glass. The screen is then cleaned of phosphor coatings using a high-pressure vacuum, which then filters the phosphor coating into a sealed container for further recycling. The glass is then recycled for use in the manufacture of other products including new CRT screens (yes they are still being manufactured).
